Selectmen hold public hearing on three petition warrant articles

NH CAMPTON — Campton Board of Selectmen holds public hearing on three resident-initiated warrant articles. The board heard arguments for Senate Bill 2 ballot voting, reducing selectmen from five to three, and capping municipal tax growth at 2.5 percent. Only five of 30 petitioners attended the hearing.
Residents Ted Baumeister, Linda Molinaro, Mike Letourneau, Robert Bain, and Gregory Jencks spoke in support, citing privacy, participation, and cost concerns. Selectman Mort Donahue opposed all three articles. Chair Sharon Davis noted the current budget projects a 2.1 percent increase after unassigned fund balance use.
Town Attorney Michael Courtney confirmed a tax cap would apply only to town operations, not schools.
