Campton conservation board approves expanded knotweed control work

NH CAMPTON — Campton Conservation Commission approves expanded Japanese knotweed control program. The commission authorized consultant Bill Hunterr of New England Forestry Consultants to proceed with state permits for treatment across Beech Hill, Lower Beech Hill, Red Sleigh, and Ellsworth Hill properties. The $6,000 Ellsworth Hill project is targeted for the state grant program, with other projects seeking alternative funding sources.
Knotweed cutting is expected to begin in late June, followed by spraying in late August or early September. In property management updates, the commission approved creation of a new trail at Woodstock Brook-Bog Forest, tentatively named Jane's Way, and noted improvements at the Beech Woods Nature Area.
